Terms of Service

Last updated: May 31, 2026

In plain language

AEDRIN helps you capture your memories, values, and voice, and — only after a verified death and with your explicit consent — lets the people you designated access an AI representation grounded in what you recorded. You own everything you write, and you can export or delete it at any time. Important: AEDRIN is currently an early-stage beta (a pilot). It is provided “as is.” We do not yet guarantee uninterrupted availability, permanent storage, that your data will never be lost, or any specific level of security — so please keep your own exported copies. The AI never claims to be you, never makes decisions for anyone, and only speaks from what you actually recorded.

1. Who we are and what this covers

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of AEDRIN (the “Service”), operated by AEDRIN (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.

2. Beta / pilot status — please read

AEDRIN is an early-stage beta product offered as a pilot. That means it is still being built, tested, and improved, and you may encounter bugs, interruptions, changes, or occasional loss of data. By using the Service during this period you understand and accept that:

  • We do not guarantee that the Service will be available, uninterrupted, or error-free.
  • We do not guarantee that we will store your content permanently or that it will never be lost, corrupted, or deleted, whether by accident, technical failure, or in the course of maintenance.
  • While we take security seriously and work to protect your data, we do not yet warrant any particular level of security, certification, or protection against unauthorized access during this beta.
  • Features may change, be added, or be removed at any time, and the Service may be modified or discontinued.

Because of this, the single most important thing you can do is keep your own copies. You can export your complete data at any time (see Section 10), and we strongly encourage you to do so regularly and to keep independent backups of anything that matters to you.

Where we're headed: stronger security guarantees, durable and redundant storage, independent backups, and clearer availability commitments are all on our roadmap as AEDRIN matures beyond this pilot. We'll update these Terms as those protections become things we can responsibly promise. For now, please treat AEDRIN as a companion to — not a replacement for — your own records.

3. What AEDRIN is — and is not

AEDRIN operates in two modes built on one account:

  • Living mode — a private, AI-guided space to capture your memories, values, stories, and reflections while you are alive. It is useful on day one as a journaling and life-reflection tool.
  • Legacy mode — after a death is verified through the process described below, the heirs you designated may access a conversational AI representation grounded in the material you chose to share.

AEDRIN is expressly not, and must never be relied upon as:

  • A source of legal, financial, medical, tax, or estate advice or instruction.
  • A decision-maker or agent with any authority to act on behalf of you or a deceased person.
  • A claim of consciousness, sentience, or that the AI "is" any real person, living or deceased.
  • A substitute for professional grief counseling or mental-health care.
  • A guaranteed-permanent archive or system of record — see the beta notice above.

The AI representation answers only from material the relevant person actually recorded. Where the recorded material does not cover a topic, it will say so rather than invent an answer.

4. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use. You agree to provide accurate information, including when you designate heirs and executors.

5. Your content and your ownership

You retain all rights to the memories, writings, recordings, and other material you submit (“Your Content”). We do not claim ownership of Your Content.

You grant us a limited license to store, process, and display Your Content solely to operate the Service for you — including generating AI prompts, summaries, and the grounded legacy representation you have configured. We do not sell Your Content, and we do not use it to train third-party foundation models.

6. Sharing, heirs, and consent

By default, everything you capture is private. Nothing is released to anyone unless you set it up that way.Sharing with heirs is opt-in: you choose which heirs may access which categories of material, you can sanitize or exclude anything you don't want shared, and you may change or revoke these settings at any time while your account is active. By default, not all of your information is released.

You may also choose to designate no executor and release nothing after your death. That is a valid choice, and in that case the Service will not grant anyone access to your account.

You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to designate the people you name and to share the information you choose to share.

7. Death verification and legacy unlock

Legacy mode never unlocks automatically or on a mere claim. It requires a multi-step, audited process: an executor you designated initiates a request, supporting documentation is submitted, a mandatory grace period runs (during which the request can be cancelled), and a human review occurs before any access is granted. We maintain a record of who initiated, what was submitted, and who approved.

We make commercially reasonable efforts to deliver any final letters and to activate heir access once a death is verified, but — as with all of the Service during this beta — we do not guarantee delivery, timing, or that every message will reach its intended recipient (for example, if a recipient's contact details are out of date or delivery is blocked by their email provider).

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Upload content you do not have the right to share, or that infringes on others.
  • Attempt to use the legacy representation to impersonate a living person to third parties.
  • Probe, scrape, overload, or attempt to bypass the Service's security, rate limits, or access controls.
  • Use the Service for unlawful purposes or to harass, harm, or deceive others.

9. AI-generated content disclaimer

Prompts, summaries, insights, and legacy responses are generated by AI and may contain errors or omissions. They are provided for personal reflection and remembrance only. Do not rely on AI output for any decision of legal, financial, or medical consequence.

10. Data export, retention, and deletion

You may export your complete data (text and media) at any time, and you may permanently delete your account and its contents. Deletion is irreversible. See the Privacy Policy for details.

We do not promise to retain your content for any minimum period during this beta. We may remove inactive accounts or content with reasonable notice where practical. For this reason, you should not rely on AEDRIN as your only copy of anything important — please export and back up your data regularly.

11. Service availability and changes

We work to keep the Service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time, with or without notice. If we make material changes to these Terms, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you.

12. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law — including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, availability, durability, or that the Service will be secure, uninterrupted, error-free, or that data will not be lost.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, AEDRIN and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, loss of content, loss of goodwill, or inability to access the Service, arising from or related to your use of (or inability to use) the Service — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the total amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) USD $100.

Because the material here can carry deep personal significance, we strongly encourage you to keep your own exported copies. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you; in that case our liability is limited to the smallest extent permitted by law.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless AEDRIN and its operators from any claims, damages, or expenses arising out of content you submit, your designation of heirs or executors, your sharing choices, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.

14. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you materially breach these Terms or use the Service unlawfully.
